Our Story

The pages of our story have been accumulating long before we finally titled it “Frigate Financial”, and started its chapter as an official business.

Michael, and I (Anna), found our meet cute beneath the buzzing fluorescents of a corporate accounting department. We didn’t know it then, but fate would guide us to where we find ourselves today—a dynamic duo with a financial service business, married - filling - jointly, passionately debating which excel spreadsheet formats work best for our home operation expenses and grocery budgeting, flipping coins to see who gets help our son with math homework & who is attempting counting with our tantrum-prone daughter (she’s currently two), and squeezing as much of what we love most in life’s offerings into every moment we have.

In those pages between the “then” & “now”, we learned we have a great deal in common:

  • In adolescence, we both aspired to be Pilots! And eventually entered our professional careers with... Accounting Degrees!
  • We both love our professions and agree that although we’d look a lot cooler in Captains hats—we get a lot more happiness from helping others with their financial obstacles in our sandals, than we would have otherwise.

...Which is really where our Frigate Financial story begins. Friends and family would often come to us with their financial-related questions & problems—and we would provide insight and advice, or team up to help them tackle it when an inquiry required action. Their overall results were so much better than what they’d experienced with official financial services, they’d come back to us—over and over again—with their various financial topics. Tax filing, budgeting, credit building, financial life planning—What can we say? We’re a great 360 team.

  • He loads the dishwasher like he’s never played Tetris in his life; and (allegedly) I have no respect for the proper laundry process (ie. Folding immediately when the dryer sings)
  • He was born & raised in a small town, Albany, of South Georgia — surrounded by farmland and nature, and a deep-rooted southern culture; rich in traditional American values that can only be felt in a place where farms have been family owned & operated since the 1800’s — proudly passed down from generation to generation, with a history richer than the red-clay soil they plant on. 
  • I was born & raised in the big & always growing city of West Palm Beach—surrounded by beaches, sunshine, and a melting-pot of culture undefinable and always changing. It’s a place of constant growth, movement, and in-flow of people of every variety and background. I am a first generation born-and-raised South Florida Local, and heartening rendition of, both domestic and international, immigration to this tropical dream destination;  my father is a first-generation Cuban-American who met my British mother during his time in the Air Force, overseas in England.
  • The majority of his career was spent in medical orthopedic sales, and a prestigious CPA firm.
  • The majority of mine was heading office management, sales, and finance for small family businesses in the construction industry, along with a long background relationship in Mortgage (family business)
  • And we both have strong opinions on the benefits and drawbacks of each aspect in our opposite spectrum experiences.

Which brings us back to the “now” of taking the best and most desirable characteristics of each business’s service to their clients... and providing it, all, in ours. The results of our assistance to friends and family proved that the benefits found in each, are not exclusive to their designated sectors. In fact, together, they offera better experience with better results.

As accounting and finance professionals with over a decade immersed in the financial workings of multiple industries; as consumers that have used a variety of such services in our personal lives; and as people who have actively helped those who have come to us for assistance and shared their stories with us along the way—we believe people want and need financial services that:

This may not hold true to you, reader, and we understand! We appreciate the unique needs of each individual, and fully support the search for a service that aligns with your unique needs. But we provide a service we believe in, are passionate about and enjoy doing—a combination that ultimately took our occasional and immensely gratifying “hobby” to help those in our circle, to a small trickle of inquires from our circle’s circles: “Could we help them too?”

That trickle led to others that flowed into a steady pour of more—and before we realized what was happening, we were receiving calls, texts, and emails every week.

We knew at that point that Frigate Financial was needed. We didn’t take flight with our business because we’d always planned to have our own business...it took flight on its own to fill a void that quietly demanded its formation through the word-of-mouth chain we never expected.

Frigate Financial started its story without a name, or the burden of profit driven service. We are simply good at what we do and found joy in being apart of people’s financial obstacle success stories. It’s given us purpose in ways that we hadn’t previously experienced in our field...which grants us the rare opportunity for happy fulfillment in our work life.

We are built on a foundation of wholesome intentions—and we are committed to staying true to those humble beginnings; no matter how large our flock grows.
